since Ebenezer Boone first boomed
his local gospel show on air
who knows how many pirate pulpits
crackled speakers into life?
now the locals answer back
queueing up to usher issues
into audibility across the great
flat-lands of Peckham
tips and training, multi-tasking
media ethics, desks and decks
academies of style and sounds
testing, testing, testifying.

Southwark Hour programme 3: spontaneous poem
The first local radio station in Peckham, long before the current Radio Peckham, was run by an evangelist. Now media training at The Hub is enabling people to broadcast their own messages to their own neighbourhood.
