O most aloof

three times more than Pluto
nine hundred times the Earth-Sun gap
you could block the Sun with a pinhead
if any live there

Sedna, goddess of the ocean
are we but a drop?
are you the long-awaited Oort cloud
or only an ort?

are you fruit of some rogue star
our young Sun's neighbour?
that show-off showering comets
snuffing out life

there are rumours of your moon
your size middles Pluto and Quaoar
yet only Mars is redder
let Quaoar blush

are you ice queen of the comets?
never warmer than thirty kelvin
only flirting with the Sun
every ten thousand, five hundred years

November 14th, 2075
you're as close as when we shuddered
out of an ice age, but
on that birthday we make no promises.
