if we paint a map of our projects on the town hall
will they notice?
if we sing loudly enough in every language we know
will they listen?
if we stand talking on this street corner for long enough
will they build a theatre around us?

Southwark Hour programme 2: spontaneous poem
At The Blue Elephant Theatre, talk turned to how the local community had generously supported the theatre in the uphill struggle to maintain its programme of plays, exhibitions and other events. This poem concerns the problems of getting local government to pay attention and spend some of our money on the quality of life.
